Kiehl's Party Was A Blast!

The idea for a Kiehl's Party for my blog readers was coined in early July 2009 by the Management of Kiehl's Malaysia. And after much discussion and planning, I decided to hold a blog contest for my readers, whereby those with the best written slogans would be chosen to attend the Party with me. My purpose of having this "I would like to try Kiehl's products because...." slogan was also to help Kiehl's get some feedback from the public in general and my blog readers particularly.

Hence I ran the contest for almost 2 weeks which saw the response being quite slow at the beginning till the last few days before the contest closed, more and more entries were coming in and last Saturday afternoon, August 8 2009 (8.8 also is a good number combination for the Chinese which means wealth and prosperity), Kiehl's outlet in Pavilion KL was practically 'bursting' with my fellow bloggers and blog readers having a whale of time testing out and playing with our 'toys' in the Kiehl's 'playground'! At the party which we had anticipated 30 people to attend including myself saw more than 30 people showing up, many of whom had confirmed at the last minute and some brought their friends who I didn't have the heart to turn them away. All of you have been so lovely and supporting my blog, and this is my little humble way of saying thank you to my fellow bloggers and my blog readers!

Kiehl's had ordered yummy delicious pastries from a blogger, fatboybakes.blogspot.com, with loads of drinks for my guests. I am really so touched by the efforts made by Kiehl's management, Nadia (Product Executive/PR) and Yvonne (Retail Manager) and a host of their friendly and helpful KCRs (abbreviation for Kiehl's Customer Representatives) which had all my guests leaving the party, happy, satisfied and full of praises for Kiehl's!

As I was there slightly before 2PM, I managed to watch how a makeup artist was putting on the final touches to the Ice Man which was one of the surprises they had in store for us while they are promoting their new Ultra Facial Cream which has been tested in the extremes of weather conditions, even to the peaks of Greenland! I had a small jar of this cream in the goodie bag I got at the party and expect a review coming up soon, though I would love to test this out in the cold, dry and harsh winter of the North.....but you'll have to wait till winter for the review made under those weather conditions. ;)

Nadia had briefed me on the agenda of the party a day before but little did I expect that I have to give a speech (which I didn't really mind) and to hold an ice-breaking session for my guests (which was really a good idea). So I started my speech (which my blogger friend, Jess, had turned into a little parody in her blog post on it-see photo below) welcoming my guests and also thanking Kiehl's for organizing such a great event for me and my friends, fellow bloggers and blog readers. Then, all my guests introduced themselves one by one. This was followed by a video presentation on Kiehl's with Nadia giving further explanation.

After all that, it was time to Party and Play!!! Not that we had not started 'playing' before the little introductory session! ;)

I took the opportunity to speak with my guests, taking photos, etc etc....except to savor the yummylicious pastries. Was just too busy and excited chit-chatting with everybody that I was on my feet with my 2.5ins high sandals for 3 or more hours and went home with a backache at night. Haha!! I hardly wear high heels anymore after having my little girl. ;) And I didn't get to 'play' so much with all the bath and body products and skincare as well....but I was just simply so happy and contented playing hostess to all my wonderful guests!

Everyone went home with a goodie bag which consisted of 2 deluxe-sized samples - 1 Ultra Face Cream and 1 Formula 133 Hair Conditioner and Grooming Aid, plus a whole lot of other samples which were suited to their individual needs.

And as a little treat for myself, I also took advantage of another surprise that Kiehl's had for us that day.....a special offer for every RM100 spent, we got RM10 off. I got myself the Gently Exfoliating Body Scrub in 'Pear Tree Corner' and 2 travel-sized haircare products. Wondering why I didn't get more?? The answer is simple. I need to finish off my current collection of bath, body and hair products 1st or I will have a huge problem with storage and display of my ever-growing collection! Huh! *wiping off the sweat from my forehead* :P

I got more samples of other products to try as well. I think for the rest of this month, I will be busy testing out the samples and doing reviews, though I still have some existing samples which need to be reviewed!
