I tried the 3ml sample of this product which was one of the 6 items in the REN Perfect Skincare Set. As the skin under my eyes is rather dry, I tend to favour eye creams over eye gels. The last time I used an eye gel was 2 years ago when I purchased Clarins eye contour gel. I didn't finish using the Clarins eye contour gel then as I preferred the texture of eye creams. According to REN's Product Catalogue, the Active 7 Radiant Eye Maintenance Gel is "a light and cooling gel formulated with mucilages from Fig to cool, refresh and revive tired eyes. Other bio actives include gypenoside (source Jiaogulan), ginsenoside (source Ginseng), laminaria and arnica to enhance circulation and reduce puffiness. Tyrosinase inhibitor from Wild Rumex and vitamin P address dark circles under the eyes, while Pectins from Sea Grass and natural hyaluronic acid from Corn smooth and tone the eye contour whilst providing lasting hydration".
I was surprised at the watery texture of this eye gel as I'd expected it to be a thicker gel like the Clarins eye contour gel. However, the good thing about a runnier texture is that you don't need a lot of the product for each application so I reckon this little tube will last a few good weeks. My eyes didn't itch or water and what I like most about it is that it gives an immediate cooling and soothing sensation around the eyes. It is especially good when your eyes are feeling tired, the sensation kind of perks you up a bit particularly when you've had a long and tiring day. It doesn't absorb immediately into the skin but I did feel that the skin around my eyes was receiving lots of hydration.
Although I can't say that the dark circles under my eyes are gone after using thie product for a week, I can definitely say that it helps reduce the puffiness under my eyes. There were mornings when I would wake up with ginormous eye bags but this condition has drastically improved ever since I started using this eye gel. If you are looking for an eye gel which eliminates fine lines, then this probably would not suit your requirements but if you are looking for an eye treatment to help reduce the size of eye bags/puffiness, then you need look no further.
