The Intrepid Beauty's Lancome Genefique Experience & The NEW Genefique Youth Activating Second Skin Mask

The Intrepid Beauty tries out Lancome Genefique Concentrate and its eye cream, and also experienced the wonders of the NEW Genefique Youth Activating Second Skin Mask which was launched recently.

Based on a 5ml sample of Genefique Youth Activating Concentrate(TM), I didn't expect my skin to undergo an amazing transformation since 7 days usage would hardly be enough to witness a dramatic change in skin texture or the disappearance of fine lines. However, I did notice that my face felt generally softer and smoother every morning after applying a few drops of the Concentrate as part of my nightly skincare routine.

The Concentrate is not a serum, it is to be used pre-serum in order to activate the presence of proteins that maintain one's youthful appearance. By stimulating the production of "youth genes", I guess one could say it's like the fountain of youth encapsulated in a bottle.

Genefique Youth Activating Concentrate(TM) purportedly promotes radiance & suppleness, evenness of skin tone and maximises the maximises the absorption and efficacy of other skincare products. Obviously I'd have to use an entire bottle of the Concentrate in order to test this theory. The 5ml sample comes in a tube form and I found myself squeezing out too much of the product on several occasions. I liked the texture of the Concentrate which was absorbed quickly into my skin.

Lancome Genefique Mini Facial

Recently, I was **invited by Lancome to experience the Genefique mask which was launched just a few short weeks ago. The Genefique mini facial took place at Lancome's Facial Cabine at Isetan, The Gardens. Lancome's very informative and helpful beautician, Ling, informed me that a lot of the customers who'd purchased the Concentrate were in their 20s. I suppose it's never too early to start with anti-ageing products although when I was in my 20s, I was quite clueless about preventing wrinkles.

As I was wearing make-up, Ling, double cleansed my face with cleansing oil followed by a milky cleanser. Then, she applied a pleasant scented scrub so that the serum in the mask could better penetrate the skin. Each mask contains 16ml of Concentrate which is a very substantial amount. Next, Ling applied the Concentrate on my face and Genefique Yeux around my eyes to enhance the efficacy of the mask. She recommends that these steps be adhered to even if one is using the mask at home.

Then the mask was placed on my face. Ling adjusted the mask so that there were no air bubbles trapped and that it fit my face like a 2nd skin and that's what it's all about as the mask is made of bio-cellulose material. This ain't your normal, average, everyday mask, that's for sure. It's like hi-tech material, nothing I've ever seen or felt before.

According to the product description, it's designed to adhere to the face and contours like a second skin for an even and intense infusion of actives.
Although very moist with serum, there was no excess serum that dripped on to my neck. Throughout the 25 minutes that it was left on my face, it felt like the serum was slowly penetrating into every pore of my face.

According to Ling, the recommended duration of usage ranges from 15-25 minutes but in any case, no longer than 30 minutes. I can safely say that the mask was good enough for longer than 30 minutes usage it was still very moist after she removed it from my face.

The results were instantaneous as should be the case when each mask costs a whopping RM50 each. My face looked more luminous and supple. I loved how smooth and soft my face felt. As for enhancing the penetration of products, my foundation glided smoothly on to my face when I applied make-up a few hours later. Ling informed me that some of the customers who have facials there have purchased a box of the masks and leave it with her so that each time they have a facial, their Genefique mask is applied after the regular mask provided as part of the facial.

The Genefique mini facial took approximately 50 minutes, 25 minutes for the cleansing/scrub/application of Genefique Concentrate & Yeux process & the rest of the time for application of the mask.

I had a peek at their facial services menu. Lancome has a range of facials to suit all budgets, namely:

(1) Extreme Purity Treatment for thorough cleansing & purifying, includes "shiatsu" pressure (45 mins) RM90

(2) Hydrating Replenishing Treatment, a pampering treatment to relax and rejuvenate skin cells Professional serum and cream are used in this treatment (60 mins) RM120

Anti-Aging Treatments

(3) Primordiale Treatment for smoothening fine lines with the use of professional anti-aging serum boosted by high frequency machine to stimulate skin's natural defense system (60 mins) RM120

(4) Reconstruction & Replenishing Treatment for the concerns of skin dryness/skin slackening/skin dullness (90 mins) RM225

However, eye treatments are not included in their facials and you have to pay an extra RM50 for the anti-puffiness eye treatment. Currently, they have a purchase 6 facials and get 2 free package. The other Lancome Facial Cabine is located at Isetan, KLCC.

For the month of August, the price of the Genefique Youth Activating Concentrate(TM) has been reduced to RM295 from the normal price of RM350. Each box of masks contains 6 pieces and is priced at RM300.

**Note: I was NOT invited by Lancome to experience the Genefique facial for the purpose of reviewing it. I had some issues with Lancome which have now been resolved to my satisfaction, thanks to L'oreal's customer service staff.

MAC Dare To Wear Eyeshadows Haul

I got only 2 out of the 12 MAC Dare To Wear eyeshadows. As usual, I wish I could have them all.....but I would be too broke to get anything from the upcoming collections.. :S

And some were already sold out at the MAC stores I went to.

So I got Going Bananas (to satisfy my obsession with yellow eyeshadows) and Sky Blue, both have Frost finish, swatched well and quite easy to work with, though the shades are on the lighter side. Had wanted to get Aqua (matte) and Crazy Cool (Veluxe Pearl) too, but they were sold out. Hopefully, the local MAC store would still have them.

I got other stuffs from MAC too, from the stores and also The Cosmetic Company Outlet (the Volcanic Ash Scrub, lippie, more eyeshadows and a brush set from Magic, Mirth & Mischief Holiday Collection last year)....I'll post it up later.

This morning, I was awakened by Hubby 'shouting', "HAPPY MERDEKA!!" :D

Yes, today, Malaysia is celebrating her 53rd Birthday! Wow!! She has surely come a long way....

Wishing all Malaysian readers of Vonvon's Interests, and everyone in Malaysia

Photos: A Peek Into Vonvon's "Treasure Box"

So here's a little peek into Vonvon's Treasure Box I shared with you earlier in the afternoon!

I bought that little box to store most of the smaller sized items and palettes to protect them. ;)

I haven't the time to take photos of each and every item I hauled. I took some of the earlier hauls, but still waiting to be edited, and the hauls I made towards the end of my vacation have not been properly sorted out. Still gotta unpack 2 more suitcases, plus a whole lotta laundry to do before I could spare more time to indulge in my passion.

Basically, most of my beauty haul were made in various Sephora stores, some in ULTA and also Target, as well as those small beauty supplies shop in shopping malls (where I got some of my NYX from). Bought lots of products from brands that are not available in Malaysia. But got some MAC too as the new collections were released earlier in the US.

More to come..................

Back To Home Sweet Home.....

Hello my dear readers!!!

The month of August is coming to an end, and so had my uber-wonderful summer vacation in the US of A!! Yes, I was in the US for the past month, on vacation, fulfilling my duty as a daughter-in-law, granddaughter-in-law, niece-in-law (is there such a term?), cousin-in-law....yep, basically meeting up with Hubby's extended family, chilling, having fun, shopping and more shopping..... having BBQ past midnight under the full moon at a friend's house.....etc etc....

And of course, Disneyland!

And visited The Cosmetic Company Outlet.....

Lots and lots more shopping.........

Haven't been blogging much this month, as I have been traveling, meeting up with family and friends, shopping, eating and even gambling (hands got itchy when I got to Vegas and Hubby and Dad-in-law were encouraging me to try my beginner's luck!! :D ).

This is the 1st post in August which I am writing in the comfort of my messy home, though when I was away, my Mom, sis and aunt have done a great job in helping me clean my house and clear off quite a bit of junk! ;)

Arrived this afternoon.... so much unpacking to do but I feel like I am a zombie now..... so tired and jetlagged.... but so glad to be home sweet home......

Guess I'll call it a night for now.....

Talk to you soon.....

Have a lovely weekend!

Of Shanghai Beach, Singing, Learning Chinese & Frances Yip's Concert!

Good morning! What a salad of a title for today's post!

It's not quite beauty-related yet it is, depends on how wide and vast your definition of beauty is. :D To me, it is. And this post is also partly about the cause which I support strongly, as a woman and a medical professional - the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign.

But it's more of my ramblings on one of my favorite TVB dramas of all time, my love for singing (I was in the school choir for as long as I can remember), how I combined both to learn to read Chinese and master Cantonese (dialect) and most important of all, it's about one of my favorite Hong Kong singers, Frances Yip, will be in town soon for a charity concert by Estee Lauder Companies in conjunction with their Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign 2010!

Being of Chinese descent and a Cantonese, ironically, the first language I learned to speak was English and the Hokkien dialect. I spent my early childhood with my maternal grandparents in Penang who taught me to speak English and Hokkien. Then I moved to Kuala Lumpur with my parents. My Dad is a Cantonese and obviously he wanted his children to be able to speak Cantonese. And it so happened at that time (early to mid 80's), the limited number of TV stations in Malaysia started screening some TVB series, of which one of them is the ever popular The Bund (or Shanghai Beach;
Sheung Hoi Tan (上海灘) ). OK, some of you may be 'lost' at this point but that was the era I grew up in where we listened to music from casette (vs. my little girl's generation, OK, may be earlier than that, who listens to music from CDs and MP3 and what else....gosh, I feel like a mammoth now! :P) and watched soaps and movies from the VHS (vs. DVDs nowadays).

Anyways, to cut a long granny story short, my Dad let us (at that time, it was only my younger sis and myself) watch these drama series and that's how we picked up our Cantonese, and singing the theme songs from these dramas taught us to recognize and learn to read the Chinese characters. And the theme song from The Bund, with the same Chinese title as the series,
上海灘, was one of the first few Cantonese songs my sis and I learned to sing. It's opening bars, usually played by an orchestra and piano accompaniment, gave a representation of grandeur of the Republican Era in Shanghai of which the plot of the series and its sequels was based on. The series' theme song and subsequently those of the sequels are sung by Frances Yip (葉麗儀 / 叶丽仪). You can listen to preview (audio only) of The Bund theme song in Frances' website, click on her name. Or you can Youtube it and watch the beautiful Frances Yip in action.

That brings back some wonderful childhood memories of mine of an evening with Frances Yip at her dinner show in the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-la Hotel in Kuala Lumpur when I was about 10 years old. We were invited by my Dad's friend, who bought a few tables at the show, and gave some tickets to my Dad. It was such a great concert and so much interaction from Frances with her audience that to this day, I could still remember walking down the spiral staircase leading to the ballroom, had a sumptuous 8- or 9-course Chinese dinner, but I was so excited to see Frances in person that I didn't remember much about the food. Unfortunately, my sis and I didn't get her autograph or even pictures with her. *pouts

She sang her famous numbers of Cantonese songs including the 3 theme songs from 3 chapters of The Bund and its sequels, but also sang the famous Indonesian song, Widuri, and Tagalog song, Da Hil Sayo (hope I get the spelling right), among the few songs which I could remember.

So when I found out from The Intrepid Beauty that Estee Lauder Group of Companies Malaysia is bringing Frances Yip to Malaysia for A Pink Charity Evening With Frances Yip accompanied by The Orchestra this October, I jumped for joy!!!!

I'll leave the details of the concert for The Intrepid Beauty to share.....

Support A Very Worthy Cause: A Pink Charity Evening With Frances Yip

Every year, the Estee Lauder Group of Companies has campaigned for breast cancer awareness through public talks and raised funds by for e.g., selling limited edition cosmetics sets (I purchased the lip set last year which was selling like hot cakes). I am very supportive of this campaign as it reaches out to women of all ages.

It’s important for women to know how to detect breast cancer symptoms as early detection saves lives. I speak from personal experience as several close family members of mine have been afflicted with breast cancer and lost their lives. And one of Vonvon's aunts was also a breast cancer survivor, who unfortunately succumbed to NPC (nasopharyngeal carcinoma) years later. The breast cancer awareness talks organized by the Estee Lauder Group of Companies have been very educational.

Frances Yip, the very talented Hong Kong singer, is a veteran of the industry and happens to be a breast cancer survivor. She will be performing in a charity concert on 29th October at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The funds will be channeled towards cancer research and treatment.

As Frances Yip will be backed by a 32-piece orchestra, this is a concert not to be missed!!

Give yourself an evening of entertainment while supporting a worthy charity at the same time.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased at the following places:

Random Sneak Peeks: Some MAC Fabulous Felines & Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia Swatches

I managed to get a little sneak peek of MAC Fabulous Felines Collection last week, did some swatches but still couldn't purchase any of them as they will only go on sale at MAC stores officially this coming Thursday. NO, not in Malaysia. Not sure when will it come out in Malaysia...will let you know when I know....:)

Anyways, the SA's eyes were on me all the time that I couldn't take any photos of the displays but I was allowed to swatch to my heart's content. So here are some swatches of some of my fav items, namely colored liners that is the NEW Superslick Liquid Eyeliners, and the Burmese Beauty Eyeshadow Quad.

Edit (August 28, 2010, 7.50PM): The swatch of the green Superslick Eyeliner is actually Treat Me Nice, and Desires & Devices actually is more of olive green shade, but just as beautiful!

And I saw the Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia Collection for Fall 2010 by Tom Pecheux........some photos and swatches of the eyeshadows.

Really regretted
didn't get any as there was a great GWP during the Nordstrom's Anniversary sale whereby you would get a 6 or 7 piece GWP with only US29.50 and above purchase, which meant only purchase of one of the palettes (USD42 each) would have entitled me to get the GWP which consisted of some Re-Nutriv travel sized skincare, and a deluxe sample of the new lip gloss....bla bla bla...don't remember anymore...:(((

P.s. Sorry, my dear readers, for such a hasty post. Schedule is really hectic.

Napoleon Perdis Astro Girl Prismatic Eyeshadow Quads - Which One Should I Get?

Finally, I got to see Napoleon Perdis cosmetics in person. I was beauty shopping (what else?) in ULTA yesterday and walking around when my eyes caught sight of the label on one of the shelves, read "Napoleon Perdis". Needless to say, I gravitated toward that shelf and boy!!! There they were....Napoleon Perdis Astro Girl Prismatic Eyeshadow Quads, and to add icing to the cake, each palette came in a set with a lip lacquer (USD35).

Of course, I wasted no time and started to swatch the Air, Fire, Earth and Water palettes. It's my first time seeing and playing with Napoleon Perdis eyeshadows and his makeup in general. Yea, we don't have this brand in Malaysia. So I was surprised to see them in ULTA.

So here are the swatches of the 4 Astro Girl palettes...........

Napoleon Perdis Astro Girl Prismatic Eyeshadow Quad

Napoleon Perdis Astro Girl Prismatic Eyeshadow Quad

Napoleon Perdis Astro Girl Prismatic Eyeshadow Quad

Napoleon Perdis Astro Girl Prismatic Eyeshadow Quad

Almost all the eyeshadows have smooth, buttery soft texture with 1 or 2 which were slightly harder than the rest but nevertheless still swatched smoothly. Pigmentation is excellent with good color pay-off. They are more on the pearl-to-frosty finish, no shimmer. All the swatches above were made with only 1 swipe on the shadows.

But I have a little problem here.....I couldn't decide on which palette to get! My element is Earth and though the Earth palette is gorgeous with a navy blue and 2 different green shades and a slightly iridescent orangey peach shade (all the colors appeal to me a lot!), the fickle ME is torn between the Earth and the Air palette. I also like the pastels of the Air palette. Knowing me, and if I could, I would definitely get all 4 palettes, but it costs USD35 per palette. I was about to give up on getting any of them but somehow last night, I got a little windfall ;P and decided to splurge a little......

My dear readers, what do you think?? Earth palette or Air palette, or either of he other 2?

Have your say.......

Have a good Monday morning and great week ahead!

L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Haircare: Rejuvenated, Revitalized, Reconstituted & Recommended - By The Intrepid Beauty

The Intrepid Beauty has tested out the NEW L'Oreal Total Repair 5 haircare and here are her reviews...........

It’s been a long time since I last used any L’oreal hair products. I change shampoos and conditioners all the time as I like to try out new products and in Malaysia, new shampoo and conditioners are launched every few months. I’d been seeing the L’oreal Total Repair 5 (TR5) advertisement on TV featuring one of my favourite Bollywood actresses, Aishwarya Rai (I do enjoy my Saturday afternoon Hindi movie every now and then) so when Vonvon requested me to review the L‘oreal TR5 Shampoo, Conditioner and Night Serum, I had the opportunity to confirm whether the products lived up to their claims.

The TR5 range is said to be a new range designed to address the 5 issues of damaged and devitalized hair, i.e. breakage, dryness, dullness, coarseness and split ends. The core ingredient in the products is Cement-Ceramide™ which claims to have the power to reinforce cohesion. Although I don’t have serious split end problems, my hair does feel and look dry and dull. When I wake up in the mornings, there’s some hair fall-out as well.

At first glance, the tube of conditioner looked like it was slightly bigger than the shampoo but upon closer examination, I found that they were the same at 180ml. Both come with flip top caps which makes it easy to open but you won’t be able to see how much product is left which isn’t really that much of an issue for me.

How did the products fare? Here’s my review on each one:

TR5 Repairing Shampoo

My first impression was that the scent was lovely, both floral and fruity. Later, I found out that it was a blend of jasmine, gardenia, rose, green melon, apple and peach. OK, scent alone does not convince me to purchase, what next?

I didn’t need a lot of shampoo to produce a more than satisfactory amount of lather. I’m one of those people who like their shampoos to be very foamy. I’ve used Kiehl’s Olive Shampoo before which while good, didn’t produce much lather. It’s just a personal thing, I like foam in cleanser and shampoos, the more the better. In this respect, the TR5 Repairing Shampoo more than fulfilled my exacting requirements.

The TR5 Shampoo cleansed well and didn’t feel heavy. It also washed off easily without leaving any residue. I’d purchase this shampoo once I run out of it since it’s an affordable RM11.90 for 180ml. It also comes in 375ml size at RM22.90.

TR5 Repairing Cream Conditioner

Prior to switching over to the TR5 range, I’d been using Ascience’s Inner Rich Shampoo, Conditioner & Treatment which worked for me in the sense that my hair agreed with the products but I didn’t get any spectacular results. While using these products, my hairdresser would still invariably comment on the dryness of my hair every time I visited him.

As the name suggests, the TR5 Repairing Cream Conditioner is very creamy. I squeeze the product on to one of my hands and rub both palms together to spread it evenly, then apply the conditioner to the lower sections of my hair.

I was amazed at the instant results, my hair felt exceptionally soft and smooth immediately. It was fluffy soft even after I’d blow dried my hair. There were no tangles and my hair was easy to manage, it’s a far more superior conditioner to even Ascience’s Treatment, never mind other drugstore conditioners I’ve tried previously.

24 hours after using the TR5 Conditioner, my hair still feels soft and smooth. My hair also feels healthier after using the TR5 shampoo and conditioner as I don’t see as much hair fall-out in the mornings. I’d definitely purchase this conditioner once I run out of it. I can’t remember the last time a conditioner impressed me this much.

Similar to the TR5 Shampoo, the TR5 Conditioner also comes in 2 sizes, 180ml at RM12.90 and 375ml at RM24.90.

TR5 Night Essence

I am not sure if it makes a difference when you apply this Night Essence. Should you apply it before you go to sleep like a sleeping mask for hair? Anyway, I applied the Night Essence after I’d finished blow drying my hair.

It isn’t sticky or greasy and absorbs very quickly into my hair. As an experiment, I have used the TR5 Shampoo and Conditioner without applying the Night Essence and on another occasion, used the Night Essence afterwards. I haven’t notice any difference with or without the Night Essence on but having said that, the results may not be visible to the naked eye. If I got my hair analysed, I may discover that my hair is strengthened by using the Night Essence. All I am saying is that I don’t see or feel any particular difference using the Night Essence.

The TR5 Night Essence comes in a 150ml pump and is priced at RM36.90.

Photo: Estee Lauder NEW Pure Color Eyeshadows

Sorry, my dear readers.... Been disappearing from my blog a lot lately. Still on my break, and online opportunities have been very rare. Apologies for my late replies to your emails, comments, inquiries, etc.

And I am not quite updated with the beauty scene in my dear old Kay-El (Kuala Lumpur) malls these past few weeks.

Anyways, I saw this at an Estee Lauder counter in Macy's a few days ago...

The much-anticipated NEW Pure Color Eyeshadows by Estee Lauder in the new formula, much more pigmented, softer and smoother texture with excellent color pay-off! I managed to swatch a few shades and I had to pick up my mandible up from the ground after swatching those few shades. But err....in the midst of my excitement and rushing to shop in Macy's clothing section which was on sale, I had forgotten to snap pics of the swatches. ;)

A little sneak peek.......... Please do let me know if you have seen them in any Estee Lauder counter in KL......

For those in Malaysia, a little bird has whispered to me that they might be a value set coming soon with a palette featuring 18 shades of eyeshadows from the new range! What??? 18 shades?? YES YES!!!! I WANT I WANT!!!

To be honest, if I were to purchase these eyeshadows individually, I would be broke for the rest of the Fall and upcoming Holiday collections....so, I am waiting excitedly, albeit impatiently, to see if this 18-color eyeshadow palette is coming soon............ I'll update if I get any more news on this. :)

Have a good evening!

UPDATE (August 22, 2010; 7AM): The 18-eyeshadow palette will be part of the Estee Lauder Blockbuster set which will be available at the end of the month. And as usual, there will be a set exclusive to the Estee Lauder counters of Isetan only. The rest of the counters will have the normal set. You can see them in the latest Isetan newsletter.

*Thank you to 2 readers of Vonvon's Interests who wish to remain anonymous, for the info. xoxo

Updates & Some Random Photos

Greetings, my dear readers!

It's been quite rare that Vonvon does not update her blog for a few days at a time of late. But as I have mentioned last Sunday, I am on a major break right now, and the past few days have been pretty hectic and busy with lots of traveling and also helping Hubby to do some errands. There was little time to go online, let alone to edit photos and write any post.

I hope to resume some beauty-related posts as soon as I can.....hmmm.....been playing with MAC By Candlelight MSF quite a lot lately, as a blush, as an all-over powder, even as eyeshadow (just to test the versatility of this famed MSF), also tried reproducing the Cashmink look for A/W 2010 with this MSF; tried reproducing the Voile Veil look with MAC Gilt By Association Mineralize Eyeshadow; other than those, Vonvon has been spotting the no-makeup makeup look frequently during my break! ;)

Alright, enough of ramblings......... I still need to edit the photos of those EOTDs and FOTDs....

Meanwhile, here are some random photos I have taken recently, and it's some of my favorite food....oh, glorious food.......

Walnuts and Olives, pickled gherkin too

Huge shrimps, already peeled....yummy, saves me the trouble of peeling shrimps! :P

Princess called them baby peaches!

Have a great weekend, my dear readers!

Estee Lauder Launches The NEW Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex

I have been using the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Recovery Complex since the birth of my little girl. All the sleepless nights, late nights, etc...was really bad for my skin, and panda eyes were a constant problem back then, even fine lines started to appear (and I was only in my high 20's back then!). What a disaster! But the ANR Eye Recovery Complex did help with the lines, though not so much the panda eyes problem.

Even though over the years, I have tried different kinds of eye cream, addressing different skin concerns, I would always return to Estee Lauder ANR Eye Recovery Complex, as it worked for me, and price-wise quite affordable. Besides, I have many travel-sized jars of it which came with the many GWPs over the years! :D

Anyways, this eye cream which I have grown to love so much is now going to be replaced by the NEW improved formula of the Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex (RM190 for 15ml).

Estee Lauder is launching the new ANR Eye Synchronized Complex this week with a roadshow in Metrojaya Mid Valley South Court from Aug 10, 2010 (that is tomorrow) till Aug 16, 2010. You can get Personalized Skin Analysis using Estée Lauder Advanced Skin Detector Scope and also learn to achieve beautiful eyes with just 3 simple steps.

And what are the 3 simple steps to your beautiful eyes?
That's for you to find out at the roadshow! :)

I still visit and read your blogs though I may not leave any comment. Nevertheless, I appreciate your taking the time to visit my blog, leaving your comments and writing emails to me. :) *Hugs and kisses......

Review: Dior Capture Sculpt 10 Firming Pre-Treatment Lotion - By The Intrepid Beauty

The Intrepid Beauty shares with you how she uses Dior's Capture Sculpt 10 Firming Pre-Treatment Lotion as a DIY sheet mask with quite an instant tightening effect!

Dior's Capture Sculpt 10 Firming Pre-Treatment Lotion is a 200ml toner which I picked up from the last Dior sale for RM40, original price is RM145. Looking at the original price, you'd expect it to come in a glass bottle but the bottle is plastic which is fine with me since it makes it lighter.

It's said to be the 1st step in Dior's "sculpting" skincare, "to prepare skin and maximise the benefits of subsequent skincare-for deeply strengthened, firmer, more toned skin".

I also purchased the Lifting Firming Fluid from the same range to be used after the lotion.

The lotion is recommended to be used with or without a cotton pad and to "stretch" the lotion from the center of the face towards temples. Subsequently, pat the face with fingertips for better absorption. I do use this lotion with cotton pads after I've cleansed my face but I prefer to pour it into a small container and drop one of my dry mask sheets into it and use it as a mask.

The first time I used it this way, I was surprised at how quickly the mask sheet absorbed the lotion, it had all gone into the mask sheet in 3 seconds or less, unlike Laneige's Power Essential Skin Refiner_EX which I'd previously used with dry mask sheets. Then again, it has to be noted that Laneige's Power Essential Skin Refiner_EX is a lot thicker than the Dior Lotion.

The next surprise was how nice and cool the mask sheet felt on my face, I didn't want to take it off, it felt that good. Compared to Laneige's Skin Refiner, this one definitely felt more moisturizing and hydrating. I did feel a slight tightening effect as well. I almost didn't get this lotion because I was a little put off by the list of ingredients which included a multitude of parabens. Although the lotion does have sodium hyaluronate, it also contains too many types of parabens for some people's peace of mind and hydrogenated castor oil is also in the ingredient list.

Overall, I like the lotion because it worked so well with the dry mask sheets and at RM40, each mask sheet wouldn't cost nearly as much as RM5 each which is the average cost of ready made mask sheets. This is one DIY mask sheet I could happily use everyday without feeling a twinge of guilt at the expense. Would I repurchase? Yes, if it was once again on sale and no, if I had to pay full price for it.

EOTD/FOTD: Greens With MAC Humid & Shimmermoss Eyeshadows

It's been a while since I last posted an EOTD. Well, last month had been a flurry of EOTDs with marathons ;) and we haven't had any EOTD from Vonvon for August!

So, let's have a rather summer-y EOTD today with greens, a shade which Sesame likes very much. ;)

Eye Of The Day
1 - Define brow with Stila Automatic Brow Definer in Coffee;
2 - Apply MAC Shimmermoss (Veluxe Pearl finish) eyeshadow on the lid with the short end of Stila brush #30 from the inner corner of the eye outward to about 2/3;
3 - Apply MAC Humid (Frost finish) eyeshadow on the outer 1/3 from outer corner inward;
4 - Blend using the long end of Stila brush #30 where the 2 shades meet to smoothen out the edges;
5 - Apply Korres Gold 24S eyeshadow (this shade is more white, almost like champagne than gold) under the browbone for highlight and on the inner corner;
6 - Line the upper lash line with Stila Kajal Eye Liner in Emerald, then dab some Humid on top of it to set with short end of Stila brush #30, as Kajal smudges big time;
7 - Line the lower lash line with MAC Technakohl Liner in Artistic Licence ;
8 - Finish off with Averine Volume Mascara to the upper lashes. I don't remember why I had forgotten to apply mascara to the lower lashes. :P

Face Of The Day

Face: Aqualabel Whitening Foundation in OC10
Guerlain Meteorites

Cheeks: The Body Shop Roseflower Blush

Lips: Maybelline Color Sensational Moisture Extreme Lip Color in Papaya Milk (1 coat)

It's weekend! What are your plans for this weekend?

I am still undecided on what to do yet....... ;)

Meanwhile, have fun!
