FOTD: 5-Minute Neutral Spring Look With Dark Lips

Hello, hello, Good Monday! We are on Daylight Saving Time now in the Northern Hemisphere. Which means it's Spring time, err, well, Spring was officially here last Monday with the Equinox.

This is one of the photos I took last week when I went out on my own spring walk to snap the spring blooms, as I have mentioned on my Facebook page.
Yea, I may not update this blog often, but I do go on Facebook almost everyday and you can read some updates from me there. :)

I know I keep on whining about all the backlogs which now probably are as thick as 10 Yellow Pages books. ;) And I have been 'chased' for some reviews to be published, so I guess I should buck up and pay more attention to my little blog which has been pretty neglected lately. I will try.....

Anyways, I want to share with you today the latest look I did, which was last week, when I went to the city centre with my girlfriend for a girls'/mummies' day out. It actually took about 10 minutes in total, 5-minute without taking into account prepping my face. Yes, usually, I will take about 5 minutes or more to put on a makeup base (sometimes), followed by foundation, or BB Cream alone, and set with a powder(highlighter). I have been reaching a lot for MAC By Candlelight MSF, and it especially makes my face glow after applying it on top of BB Cream. (Testified by my Turkish girlfriend who complimented me on my glowing complexion with that combo, and has since been introduced to BB Cream by Yours Truly.) :D

So, here's the quick look I did, which I think is quite a norm for me to spot. No detailed step-by-step photos, sorry.

Face Of The Day

Face: Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals Instant Skin Perfecting Cream SPF26/PA+++ (BB Cream, in short);
MAC By Candlelight Mineralize Skinfinish as a finishing powder

Cheeks: Prorance Sunny Glam Water Glow -Skinfinish- M11 (to be reviewed soon)

Lips: MAC Kissable Lipcolour from Peacocky Collection - Love Peck (just dabbed it on with fingers for a more subtle color). Loving this shade a lot lately. I know it's warm and more of a Fall/Winter shade, but am loving it especially I am spotting minimal makeup nowadays, and this would be good to add a dash of color to my face.

My Simple Idea Of Relaxation - Just Rambling & Quick Reviews Of Victoria's Secret Pink Energizing Sugar Scrub & Body Lotion W/ Organic Citrus & Mint

When you are always short of your own ME time, especially when you are a full-time mom and wife, and you just have very little time to yourself before doing the next task - picking up your kid, preparing food for Hubby, thinking hard what to prepare for the next meal and preparing it yourself, etc, basically like ME, even a quick shower with some exfoliation sounds like heaven luxury!

And that sums up what was supposed to be a full free day of a Friday for me!

Anyways, I had planned to draft some posts and edit some photos this morning, and also to play with some of the Spring 2011 makeup products which I have.......well, as you can guess, nothing of that materialized! :S

Then came the afternoon...... well, it's been really hot the past few days over here, and the thermometer hasn't even hit 20C, but the sun is shining brightly and OK, it feels warm and nice. I guess Spring is officially here, may be even Summer.

So, I managed to have a quick shower using the Victoria's Secret Pink Energizing Sugar Scrub and (followed by) Body Lotion with organic citrus & mint, and here I am now, multi-tasking - sharing a quick post with you while enjoying a bowl of cold 八寶粥 (literally translated as Eight Treasure Porridge/Congee), but on the can, it's written as 'Mixed Oat Congee'!

Well, obviously, I didn't cook it myself, (I hate cooking, but I like to eat :P), just bought it from one of the Asian supermarkets. ;) It's basically a mixture of 8 types of grains, beans and some Chinese herbs. But I saw mostly barley, and those big red beans, and some lotus seeds in it. And I saw a piece of 'pak hap' - it's in Cantonese, but I don't know what is it called in English. If only my Dad is here, I would be able to ask him more about all these Chinese delicacies, and tell you more about it too. Actually, he is was like a walking encyclopedia to us when we were growing up, and till now, before his untimely premature death, that is.




OK, let's talk a bit about the Victoria's Secret Pink Energizing Sugar Scrub and Body Lotion with organic citrus & mint

I bought the Energizing Sugar Scrub (USD10, 250ml) online (with some other stuffs) some time last year during the Victoria's Secret sale, and the Energizing Body Lotion came as part of a generous GWP with that purchase, if I remember correctly.

The Energizing Sugar Scrub is very mild in every way, yes, mild from the fragrance to the product itself with its mild gentle scrubbing granule which is basically sugar. It's citrus and mint, but I mostly sniff the mint scent which is quite mild, but enough to give a slight cooling sensation to my body as I scrub away. Since it's sugar, as I scrub, the granules dissolve. It rinses off easily and leaves my skin feeling clean, but slightly dry.

The Energizing Body Lotion is also a mild lotion but has a stronger detectable citrus scent than the Sugar Scrub. It has a light texture, and absorbs readily into my skin, leaving it feeling soft and smooth. It makes my skin less dry, though I wouldn't say that my skin feels hydrated after its application. But then, even it's Spring time now, the air is still quite dry, unlike in Malaysia, where humidity is high. As long as my skin is not dry and becomes itchy and scaly, I feel it's good enough.

When I was in the US, I didn't see this range of products being sold in their shops, but they are available online in the Victoria's Secret website under Pink/Beauty section. Edit: FYI, I couldn't find these in the VS website anymore. Sorry.

It's Spring!

Today is the first day of Spring, it's Spring Equinox!

How have you all been?

As for me, I am spending lots of time with Princess and Hubby, our Turkish and Italian friends and their wonderful princes. Friends, and I mean good and well-meaning friends, are so important at tough times like what I am going through right now. And I am really so grateful to have good friends around me, also not forgetting readers and blogger-friends who have left comments for me, and the emails you have sent to me.
Thank you so much!

Well, as for this blog, yes, I do have lots to write...... I will try to start blogging again as soon as I can. Somehow, there's just not much mood to write, well, not only writing, but I just don't have the mood to do lots of things. But friends and people around me are always trying to cheer me up :), so hopefully things will get better soon. :D

Haul: MAC Wonder Woman MSF Pink Power & Lady Justice Eyeshadow Quad

With very strong restrain on myself and on my wallet, I picked up only 2 items from MAC Wonder Woman Spring 2011 collection.



I was contemplating getting the 3 colored mascara in Themyscira(blue), Victorious(violet) and Army of Amazons(green) and also a couple of the jumbo-sized lipglasses. Seriously, the lipglasses may look huge and the colors, well, may be similar to shades already in my stash, but the moment I took it in my hand, and opened it, the large stubby applicator just made me laugh, and I just had the urge to purchase them all, well, may be 3 of the 4 lipglasses - Emancipation, Wonder Woman, and Athena's Kiss. And the lipglasses have matching shades of lipsticks too. Hmmm.....I wonder if I would be able to find them at one of the CCOs soon......*fingers crossed

Swatches & Reviews: MAC Peacocky Kissable Lipcolours in LOVE PECK, SCANDELICIOUS & WOO ME

I had planned this post for the middle of February, and just as I have finished playing with these MAC Peacocky Kissable Lipcolours, photographed them, and about to edit them, I received the unexpected phone call from my sis, and all I could do from then on, was to cry and cry, till I came back to Malaysia. And the tears just flowed.......

Anyways, as they say.....life goes on.... no matter how hard and painful it is...........

OK, so, I have 3 MAC Peacocky Kissable Lipcolours (RM80 each) in Love Peck, Scandelicious and Woo Me. I didn't manage to swatch Woo Me on my lips, but only the normal swatch on hand.



Let's start with Love Peck..........

When I saw the shade on the tube, I was like.... OMG, how am I going to wear such a thick brown shade, yes, that's how it looked like on first impression of the tube. But the actual shade is a deep rich berry shade which is more like my kind of shade. It may not be suitable for daily wear, or rather, day wear, but this shade can be toned down by dabbing it on the lips, instead of applying directly onto the lips with the applicator. The lip swatches below were done by applying directly from the applicator.

It is very pigmented, but the formula is not sticky, and lasts for about 2-3 hours on my lips without food or drink. With drinks, and some food, it fades to a fuchsia-tone shade on my lips.

Application directly from the applicator can be quite messy, and rather uneven. What you see in the photos below have been cleaned up. It would be best if applied by dabbing the color on with finger, or to use a lip brush.

At the time of writing, Love Peck is still available at certain MAC stores.

Scandelicious............

This shade is HOT! A bright shocking pink but not over the top. Pigmentation is excellent. And it stays on my lips for 2-3 hours without fading. With food and drink, of course, it fades slightly.
As with Love Peck, this shade can be toned down by dabbing it on with finger.

Woo Me..........

Woo Me is a neutral shade with pink undertone. Would look great with smoky eye look, and a nude look.
